Old Colorado City

OCC is located west of Colorado Springs.  Old Colorado City was briefly the first territorial capital of Colorado in the 1800s, before Colorado became a state.  The cabin in Bancroft Park (Colorado Avenue and 24th Street) briefly saw use as a government building.  Explore the history of this area at the Old Colorado City Historical Society museum located at 1 South 24th Street, 80904.  Most of the homes in this neighborhood are bungalows, with some bigger homes, most built at the turn of the century (1900).  Some of the homes have detached garages with alley access.  The bathrooms are typically located by the kitchens because they were usually added on with emerging technology.  Many second floor bedrooms will not have a bathroom, unless they have been added on in updating.  Emeritus of Colorado Springs is one of the assisted living centers in this area, located off 21st Street.  Village at Skyline is a continuum of care campus, also off 21st Street, that offers a variety of living options for 55+.
