How Seniors Can Stay in Their Own Homes

Most seniors (90%) want to stay in their homes and not move into assisted living for as long as they can. The average age of admission into nursing homes is 82.5 years of age. Have you considered what would be required to continue living in your home as you enter your golden years? There may be some home modifications, equipment, or at-home care giving help that might be necessary.

Common home modifications include installing handrails, widening doorways, improving lighting, repairing tripping hazards, and more.

I know of two great resources for Colorado Springs area seniors who would like an assessment of their living situation, to determine what can be done in order to stay out of assisted living for as long as possible. I recommend contacting Craig Nelson, CSI, CAPS II, CSA with Aging in Place at 719-632-3994 and Phil Stafford, MBA, CAPS, CEAC with Independent Home Living, LLC at 719-660-2401.
